This is a gorgeous pair of 18th century travelling musicians stands/seats. These would be attached to the back of horses or carriages and when the musicians arrived at the towns they would set them on the ground, sit on the top part and rest their feet on the bottom section and begin to play. Very interesting items. I think they would now make great lamp stands or reading tables with the top level good for a lamp or drinks and then the large lower level for your books or magazine stand. The quality of these is very high with chamfered edges to the supports and pegged together with wooden joints. They are beautifully worn with character that only age can give them. No faults and great talking points.
