19th century Anglo-Chinese campaign secretaire chest of drawers
This is an exceptional piece of campaign furniture. The quality is phenomenal and overall condition is superb. It is made of camphor wood I believe which makes it smell amazing. The centre drawer is a pull out writing slope. We added a nice quality baize to this as it had lost the original. The back drawer is stained with the original inks which I think is a lovely detail. All the drawers run smoothly and there are no major faults. Each drawer retains its original brass handle as well. The stunning inlaid detail that runs around the piece just gives it that little something extra which makes it stand out. Great size and extremely heavy. It would make an ideal space saving desk or even just a beautiful and practical chest of drawers.
