19th century Anglo-Indian Carved elephant head coffee table
This is a superb quality 19th century Anglo-Indian carved coffee table. The piece is made from an Indian hardwood and the carving is very fine. The base is made of four elephant heads that each have bone tusks and eyes with only one missing one eye. The top is heavily carved with deity figures and it is done extremely well. Overally condition is very good. This piece is quite interesting as to the underside it has number corresponding to the legs and the body making me think it was made to come apart possibly as campaign furniture. Either way it is a striking table that will add a bit of quirkiness and inetrest to a space.
