The Piece

About this piece

This is a fabulous piece of African art in the form of an axe. This looks to be a work axe rather than a hunting axe with its fine metal blade. The age of this axe is 19th century but its origin is not clear. It could be from the Senufo tribe in the Ivory coast but I can't be sure. What I do know is this is beautifully made and has a lovely patina and tactile feel. Moulted on a black stand this is a great decorative piece.
