The Piece

About this piece

We have been fortunate to get hold of some truly stunning 18th and 19th century Italian frames that we have added high quality 6mm mirror plate too.

This example is one of the most unusual we have had for a little while. The frame dates to the late 18th early 19th century and is painted in a faux marble effect which is all original gesso on wood. It also has a gilt in set and exterior boarder which highlights the mirror perfectly. There is a small loss on the right side of the frame but apart from that its in fabulous condition.

104cm by 88cm

Can be hung either portrait or landscape.

Condition report +

Very good with one minor loss to the paint on the frame, right side.

Northern Italy

Why we chose this piece +

We love early Italian frames and this one was particularly unusual with the painted faux marble decoration. The quality is evident when you look at the fineness of the painting as well as the gilt boarders. The size is also a great feature.
